Post apocalyptic movies are quite fond of using the lack of water as a metaphor for the end of the relatively peaceful life we enjoy. They are not far off. Scarcity breeds anger, resentment and contempt that will ultimately escalate into aggressive action. We only have to look at the current conflict over oil to see where the water problem is headed.
